Ottawa West losing in overtime, game three tonight

Ottawa, Ontario – Two deciding Wild Card games went to overtime last night in the Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2 circuit.

The Renfrew Timberwolves defeated the Athens Aeros 4-3 in double overtime to advance to the next round while Embrun beat Ottawa West in double overtime to force game three tonight.

F/2nd OT | Renfrew 4, Athens 3

The Timberwolves were leading 3-2 after two periods but the Aeros Cameron McLean scored late in the third period to force overtime.

Brandon English lead the way for Renfrew with three points (2G/1A) while Hein (2A) and McIntyre (2A) had a big night with two points. Brumm made 39 saves in the win. Alexandre Ferraton scored the double overtime winner with seven seconds remaining in the frame to move onto the next round.

In the loss, Athens outshot Renfrew 42-36 with Servage. McKenney and McLean scoring their goals. ’97 born Aeros players: Michael Parr, Clay Carter, Josh Maley, Campbell Schoular, Aidan Ethier and Chad Caskenette played their last games.

F/2nd OT | Embrun 3, Ottawa West 2

The Panthers were leading 2-1 heading into the second period after pilling 25 shots against Ottawa in the second period. West would tie the game after Mulvihill scored on a scramble in front. Embrun won it in overtime with a goal from Jacob Lamont in double overtime to force game three tonight.

Embrun outshot Ottawa West 63-30 in the win. Burke, Brosseau and Lamont picked up the goals for the Panthers in the win.

Goodfellow and Mulvihill scored the Ottawa West goals. Mulvihill netted his third of the postseason while Goodfellow picked up his second of the playoffs. Cuglietta made 60 saves in the loss.

Game three is tonight at the Barbara Ann Scott arena at 7:15.
