This week was truly a golden week for the Ottawa West Golden Knights. They got shutouts every game this week, and Dustin Riff made history.

The Golden Knights started off their amazing week at home, in the Barbara Ann Scott Arena, taking on the Winchester Hawks. The Golden Knights got themselves a 5-0 win.

The Golden Knights opened the scoring just a few minutes in, with a goal from Will McCulligh.

An early goal is always important for setting the pace of a game, and McCulligh nailed that for them.

“It’s a lot easier to play from ahead, than behind,” Gavin McCarthy said. “Put that puck in the net, and it definitely makes it easier to stay positive, which is a key part in every shift.”

Thomas Dickey nailed one later on in the period, to keep the boys hyped up, and positive.

Then, Justin Murdoch sniped one less than a minute later. The boys were up 3-0, by the end of the period, after that goal.

The second period consisted of big saves from Riff, to help keep the boys in it. Carter Pilon hit the back of the net, to give the Knights a power play goal.

The Golden Knights were up 4-0, to end the second.

Things started to get a little chippy in the third, but the boys got another one, as Dickey got his second of the game, on the power play.

No penalty could stop the Golden Knights. They stayed strong, never giving away chances, killing off a major penalty.

Riff deserves the spotlight to be turned on him. He stayed strong throughout the game, and made EOJHL history, as he earned himself his seventh shutout of the season.

Friday night, the boys were at again, against the Hawks, but this time in Winchester.

Riff extended his record, making it eight, with another shutout. The Golden Knights won 3-0.

Two goals from McCulligh, and one from Joel Mullen, helped power the boys to the win.

Sunday, the Golden Knights were in Vanier, for their rescheduled game, against the Brigade. The boys won 4-0. Carter Overhoff stayed strong in net, and got his fourth shutout of the season.

The Golden Knights had a goal from Max Shewfelt, back-to-back goals from Murdoch, and one from Seamus Lockhart to ensure the win.

It was a golden week for the Ottawa West Golden Knights, with three shutouts, history made, and dominating wins.
