Hailing from Kemptville ON, Brennan Miller began his hockey journey at a young age, inspired by his father. Starting with Timbits hockey alongside his younger brother, he developed a deep passion for the game. The bond with his brother, both close in age and on the ice, fostered a competitive spirit that shaped his early years in hockey.
Growing up a dedicated Ottawa Senators fan, he found his biggest role model in Erik Karlsson. Watching Karlsson’s elite play as a defenceman inspired him to develop a versatile two-way game. Although he drifted away from NHL fandom after Karlsson’s trade, the impact of his role model remains evident in his playing style.
Now a rookie in junior hockey, Miller has embraced the challenge of transitioning from minor hockey. Being the youngest on the team, he acknowledges the shift in dynamics and physicality but sees it as an opportunity to adapt and grow. “You just gotta take the punches,” he said.
As a defenceman, he prides himself on being a reliable two-way player with excellent vision and passing skills. Traditionally a defensive player, he is working hard to incorporate more offensive elements into his game. His season goals include consistent improvement and earning a spot in the prestigious prospects game.
Beyond hockey, he’s an avid golfer who spends summers on the course, even working as a groundskeeper. Balancing high school with hockey demands has been a learning experience, but he has found his stride, staying on top of both academics and athletics.
One of his favorite hockey memories involves a dramatic comeback during a U14 game, where his team rallied from a 3–1 deficit with five minutes left to win the game. More recently, winning the U18 championship two years ago stands out as a career highlight.
The words of his first-ever defensive coach, have stuck with him. That guidance has shaped his approach to hockey and life: working hard, staying humble, and striving for continuous improvement.
