William McEvoy named CCHL2 Rookie of the Month for February

Ottawa, ON – The CCHL2 announced their performers of the month for the month of February earlier today where Golden Knights ’02 born netminder William McEvoy took home the Rookie of the Month honours.

McEvoy, 18, is in his first junior season and was a main piece in the Golden Knights being crowned the 2019-2020 CCHL2 Martin Division and regular-season champions by going 36-6-2 with 74 points.

The Ottawa native went 4-0 in the month of February with a 3.38 GAA and a .908 SV% en route to ending the season on a 16 game winning streak.

This is the second time this season that McEvoy has been named a CCHL2 performer of the month as he earned Goalie of the Month in October, going 4-1, posting a 1.77 GAA / .933 SV% to go along with 2 shutouts.

McEvoy ranked second among goalies in goals-against average (2.07) and third in save percentage (.923), to go along with two shutouts.

The Golden Knights get set to take on the Martin Division Wild Card winning Casselman Vikings starting Monday night at the Barbara Ann Scott Arena for a best of seven semi-final series.
