Carter Overhoff, Ottawa West Golden Knights goalie, has been on the ice and playing hockey since he was four.

Now, Overhoff is 18. He stops shots with big saves, tracks the puck, and always stays strong in between the pipes.

Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Overhoff fell in love with the game ever since his dad built a rink in their backyard.

Overhoff wears number 31 on his jersey. He went with the number because it’s a classic goalie number, and is working out for him.

Overhoff is a fan of the Ottawa Senators, and his favourite player is Craig Anderson, who is an Ottawa Senators legend. Overhoff is inspired by Anderson, and matches Anderson’s style of staying calm and athletic in net, as well as his ability to track the puck.

Throughout his time in hockey, Overhoff has played for many teams. When he was younger, he played in the Richmond House League. Overhoff then went on to play for the AAA league for the Silver Seven, then the Cyclones, the Titans, and back to Silver Seven. He then played for the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings (UCMHL), and South Grenville in Junior C, before finally landing with the Ottawa West Golden Knights.

Strengths are everywhere, every person has them, and Overhoff contributes his own strengths to the team.

“I’m a locker room guy. A glue guy,” Overhoff said. “Everyone in the room contributes something, and I’m all for that too.”

When Overhoff isn’t on the ice, he balances being an athlete with attending Carleton University for Criminology, with ease. He even finds spare time to go outside, and enjoy time with friends.

Overhoff is happy to get hyped up before games, with whatever song is playing in the locker room.

There are many things to enjoy about playing for the Ottawa West Golden Knights, but Overhoff’s favourite thing about the team is the boys.

“We’re a good group of guys. It was a great opportunity to come here,” Overhoff said. “And it’s a fun team to play for.”

Overhoff’s ability to track the puck, keep the team in it, and his locker room energy makes him an important player and asset for the Ottawa West Golden Knights.
