RECAP | OTTAWA WEST 5, RENFREW 4

Arnprior, Ontario – The Ottawa West Golden Knights opened up the CCHL2 Showcase with a 5-4 win over the Renfrew Timberwolves on Saturday morning at the Nick Smith Arena.

This matchup marked the second consecutive time that Ottawa West and Renfrew opened up their seasons against each other. Last year Ottawa West won 6-3 and were able to carry it over to today’s game.

Ottawa West held a 4-2 lead heading into the third period thanks to a late second period goal by Sean Kearns.

The Timberwolves Luka Marinic and Arian Oki tied the score at four mid-way through the third period after some tough penalties taken by Ottawa.

Daniel Goulet scored the game winning goal with just over three minutes remaining in the third period.

Nolan Marshall tallied three assists and Mathieu Poulin scored two goals in the win. Miguel Daoust made his first CCHL2 start in over a year and made 27 saves on 31 shots.
