Seamus Lockhart, right-handed defenseman for the Ottawa West Golden Knights, has been playing hockey for as long as he can remember.

Lockhart is 20 now, and he’s great at making plays, throwing hits, and bringing energy.

Kanata, Ontario, is where Lockhart is from, and where he fell in love with hockey.

Lockhart has six on the back of his jersey. When Lockhart was first in Junior A, playing for the Nepean Raiders, he was given number six. He had a lot of fun on that team, and really enjoyed his time there.

Lockhart then decided to go with that number for his final year in Junior B, because of all the fun he’s had being number six, in the past.

The Vancouver Canucks are Lockhart’s favourite NHL team, but he draws inspiration from Utah Mammoth defenseman, Mikhail Sergachev, and Boston Bruin defenseman, Charlie McAvoy. Lockhart matches their skill, grit, and physical play.

Before landing with the Ottawa West Golden Knights, Lockhart played for the Junior B Carleton Place Canadians (EOJHL), the Nepean Raiders (CCHL), the Junior A Carleton Place Canadians (CCHL), and the Renfrew Wolves (CCHL).

The Golden Knights are a strong team, with strong players, and Lockhart brings many strengths to the team.

“I think I bring a physical aspect, and I bring energy,” Lockhart said. “Quick passes, smart passes. I just want to play the game, and have fun.”

When Lockhart isn’t playing hockey, he enjoys fishing, spending time at cottages, golfing, and hanging out with his buddies.

There is nothing better than getting hyped up with music, and Lockhart has a favourite song, to help him bring the energy.

“I would say Satisfaction by Benny Benassi,” Lockhart said. “It’s a song that just gets the blood, and heart going.”

Lockhart also gets prepared for games with a good meal, and by spraying cold water on his face, and down his back.

Lockhart’s favourite thing about playing for the Ottawa West Golden Knights is how close everyone on the team is.

“Even with all the moves we’ve made, we’ve still managed to stay really close in the room,” Lockhart said. “We’re there for each other. It’s hard to find that, and it’s really important to be close with everyone. It’s awesome.”

Lockhart is skilled, he brings playmaking abilities, energy, and a physical aspect to the team. The Ottawa West Golden Knights are lucky to have him.
