Ottawa, Ontario – The Ottawa West Golden Knights (2-1-1) scored first but were unable to hold on in a 5-3 loss against the Perth Blue Wings (4-1).
Noah Weatherall opened the scoring at 8:55 in the first period. Michael Gallivan took the puck away in the corner, sent the puck behind the net to Bush who would Weatherall in the slot, beating Peacock five hole.
Perth would tie it at one just before the end of the second period. Ottawa West took their second lead of the game when Noah Haymes scored his second of the campaign, making it 2-1. Lucas Brown picked up an assist on the goal, extending his point streak to three games (1G, 3A).
After the Blue Wings tied it again, they took the lead, making it 3-2 midway through the third. Former Golden Knight Matthew O’Brien fired a low shot towards the net that was tipped in by Caparelli.
Ottawa West took a costly penalty late in the game and Perth was able to put it away.
Noah Weatherall picked up a rebound in front towards the end of the game, netting his second of the game, but it was to little to late.
Ottawa West were outshot 39-25 in the game. It’s the first time this season that they’ve been outshot.
The Golden Knights next game is Thursday, October 5th at 7:15 at Barbara Ann Scott Arena when they take on the Embrun Panthers.
