Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa West Golden Knights (3-0) defeat the Winchester Hawks (2-1-1), 4-3 in a shootout last Friday night inside the Winchester Community Centre.

The Golden Knights extended their winning streak to three games to start the season. Last year, Ottawa West had a 2-0-1 record in their first three games in the 2018/19 season.

Ottawa West had a 2-0 lead in the first with goals from Daniel Goulet and Sam Brown who got his first career CCHL2 goal. The Hawks get on the board from Kyle Fleming after he stole the puck in the neutral zone to score on a breakaway. Bradley Wells score shorthanded and Marco Haw got the go-ahead goal to give Winchester a 3-2 lead.

Morgan Wark would responded with his first career CCHL2 goal to tie the game early in the third. Overtime solved nothing so the two teams would head to their first shootout of the year. Ric Shin and Michael Gallivan would score in the first two rounds to seal it.

Ottawa West outshot Winchester 60-45, Pledge-Dickson made 42 saves against his former team and the power play was 0-for-6 that game after Ottawa West went 4-for-15 to start their first two games.

Next game goes tomorrow night inside the Brockville Memorial Centre when they take on the Brockville Tikis. You can catch tomorrow’s game on mixlr.com/owgkradio.
