Ottawa, Ontario – The Ottawa West Golden Knights (20-9-2) were defeated 5-1 by the Brockville Tikis (18-9-5) on Thursday night at the Barbara Ann Scott Arena.

Down 1-0 early in the second period, Golden  Knights goaltender Miguel Daoust received a Game Misconduct for fighting Tikis forward Ryan Glazer after they crashed the net. Brockville went on to score three power-play goals as Ottawa West were down 5-on-3 for seven minutes. The Golden Knight’s had not seen a seven minute penalty against them since last year’s Martin Division Wild Card Series.

Ottawa West drops their first game against Brockville in recent franchise history (since 2015) and allow a season high 50 shots. It’s also the largest shot differential (-28) this season after they were out-shot 50-22.

Logan Gallagher’s toe-drag move in the slot set the tone early for the Tikis, as they went on to score four more unanswered goals in the second period.

Sam Edwards scored his first career Ottawa West Golden Knights goal after poking the puck in on a mad scramble in front of the Brockville goal.

The Tikis extend their winning-streak to five games while the Golden Knights have their three game winning-streak snapped. Ottawa West will be back in action on Thursday January 17th when they travel to the Jr. Brisson Sports Complex for a meeting with the Casselman Vikings.
