Ottawa West gets a point against Perth on the road

Perth, Ontario – The Ottawa West Golden Knights (15-7-2) fell to the Perth Blue Wings (13-7-2) in overtime, 3-2, on Friday night at the Perth Arena.

Mack Miller deked around Max Bush and beat Miguel Daoust on his backhand for the winner in three-on-three overtime. The Golden Knights’ suffer their second extra-time loss of the season.

Most importantly, Ottawa West was able to gather up a point on the road. Andrew Mackinnon’s blast from the left-circle tied the game a two with six-seconds remaining in the third period.

After Graeme Rogers took a penalty to put West down 5-v-4 in the final minute – Perth’s Shane Spencer took a roughing penalty to make it 4-v-4. Head Coach Steve Sundin then pulled the goalie to give Ottawa a 5-v-4 advantage which paid off.

Andrew Mackinnon’s goal was his first as a Golden Knight and his seventh of his career. He had not scored in just over a year.

Ottawa West finishes November with a 9-3-1 record (54 GF / 38 GA). Ottawa West will play three-games in December starting this Thursday when they take on the Winchester Hawks at home.
