Embrun, Ontario – Michael Gallivan’s overtime winner gave the Ottawa West Golden Knights (10-5-1) a 2-1 victory over the Embrun Panthers (5-11-3) on Friday night at the Embrun Arena.
Ottawa West extends their winning streak to a now season high three-games. During their streak, they’ve beat Richmond, Char-Lan and now Embrun – outscoring opponents 12-to-5 during that time. The Golden Knights also move to 4-4 on the road this season and have won two consecutive road games for the first time all season.
Joey Larcher gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead early in the first period. Ric Shin tied the game after a great set play by Ottawa West in the attacking-zone. Shin was left open in the slot and Daniel Startis fed him the puck for an open net.
Just 32 seconds into 3-on-3 overtime, Marc Brosseau turned over the puck in the Ottawa West zone, Daniel Startis took it up the ice, dropped it for Max Bush at the point who drove the net on his backhand and gave Michael Gallivan a perfect backdoor pass for the winner.
Daniel Stratis finished the game with two assists in the win. Both teams went 0-5 on their power-plays. Shots were 36-27 for the Golden Knights as they improve to 2-0 against the Embrun Panthers.
