Having played hockey since he was a young child, Connor Dickey fell in love with the game because of its speed and competitive nature.  Dickey is 20-years-old and is a 2nd year kinesiology student at the University of Ottawa. He played his minor ice hockey for Ottawa Myers Automotive.  He also played junior hockey for the Carleton Place Canadians and the Nepean Riders of the CCHL.  Now he is playing for the Ottawa West Golden Knights.

Inspired by his father Mark Dickey, who introduced him to the sport and continues to be a source of guidance, hockey has been a constant presence in his life.  His dedication and passion for the game have only grown over the years.

As a centre, Dickey thrives on playing a complete, 200-foot game.  He loves contributing on both ends of the ice—driving offensive plays while maintaining strong defensive responsibilities.  His fast-paced playing style emphasizes creativity in generating offense, but he understands the importance of solid defense, believing that “good defense results in good offense.”

Now, as the Golden Knights captain, Dickey embraces the added responsibility of leading his teammates.  He ensures that the team is united in pursuing their common goal: winning a championship.  His approach to leadership is grounded in teamwork, keeping the “team first” mentality unchanged even with the captaincy.

In the offseason, he enjoys golfing, a popular pastime among hockey players, and sees it as a way to unwind.  While he doesn’t follow any particular game-day superstitions, he respects those on the team who do, allowing them to prepare in their own way.  He’s also a huge Ottawa Senators fan, with Brady Tkachuk being one of his current favorite players.

Whether on or off the ice, he’s committed to helping the Golden Knights succeed.  He also expresses gratitude for the friendships and experiences hockey has brought him, noting that it’s a journey like no other.
