Ottawa West Golden Knights got a big win against the Glengarry Brigade on Jan. 9 at the Barbara Ann Scott Arena with a score of 4-1.

The game started spectacularly for the Knights with a goal from Connor Buffam at 15 seconds of the first period. This was Buffam’s first game with the Knights after being traded from the Richmond Royals. The assists went to Carter Pilon and Jacob Perrault.

“The goal felt good,” said Buffam. The goal according to him was the result of the realization of correct opportunity.

“The goal was just realizing that the D (defenceman) was walking the line to shoot it (puck), I just got in front and got stick on the puck.”

The first period saw another goal at 4:48 by Rhett Cleverdon assisted by Justin Murdoch and Ryland Landon. The second period was favourable to the Knights. Samuel Stano scored the third of the game, assisted by Perrault and Cleverdon at 11:46. The fourth goal was at 18:46 by Connor Cole with Jonathan Curti and Paolo Peloso credited on assists. The third period saw the only goal of the night by the Brigades by Derek Larocque assisted by Kaden Myre at 17:11.

Matt Soubliere, the assistant coach of the Knights credited the win to the teamwork.

“I think we played well as a team,” said Soubliere. “We made better passes than we normally do, and we actually put shots on the net which benefitted us.”

The Ottawa West Golden Knights are looking forward to more such wins and finishing the season on a good note.
