Glens take two points from OWGK with 5-4 shootout loss

Ottawa, Ontario – The Ottawa West Golden Knights (2-0-1) blew a third period lead in 5-4 shootout loss against the Alexandria Glens (2-1) on Thursday, September 20th at the Barbara Ann Scott Arena.

Ottawa West had a 3-1 lead entering the third period but were unable to hold on. The Glens scored back-to-back goals just 15 seconds apart to tie the game early in the third. Two minutes later, Mikael Gibeault gave the Glens a 4-3 lead.

Nolan Marshall extended his point streak to three games (1 G / 4 A) after he tied the game at four. Lucas Brown cycled the puck below the goal-line passing it to Corrigan at the point who fired a low shot that was tipped in by Marshall, forcing overtime and eventually a shootout.

Mikael Gibeault scored the shootout winner giving the Golden Knights their first loss of the season.

Lucas Brown (1 G / 1 A) scored his first goal of the season and Ric Shin recorded his first career Junior Hockey goal in the loss.

Ottawa West out-shot Alexandria 42-35 in the loss. They have now out-shot the opponent in each of their first three games played this year.

The Golden Knights next game is Friday, September 21st at 8:15 in Winchester when they take on the Hawks.
