Jason Ward’s hockey journey began at the age of four when his parents signed him up for it. He has always been surrounded by people who love the game and now ice hockey has become a big part of his life as well.
Ward played for the Kanata Blazers in the minor hockey. He then advanced to Pembroke Lumber Kings to play in the AAA league. His dedication and love for the game was evident early on. He has gathered many good memories after playing for this long, including winning the coveted Silver Stick Tournament with his minor hockey team.
After playing Junior B with the Arnprior Packers, Ward moved to Ottawa this year for university resulting in his move to the Ottawa West Golden Knights, bringing his skills and determination as one of the forwards on the team.
Ward said he likes the physicality of the game and always aims to be at the right spot to move the puck around for his team’s success.
Balancing school and his studies as a mechanical engineering student and playing hockey at the same time has been particularly challenging for Ward. However, with time he has adjusted to the demands of making strides in both his studies and play.
For this reason, Ward aims to increase his on-ice production and make opportunities with this team and his time playing. His focus is on improving his game and contributing to the team’s overall success.
While Ward no longer aspires to play hockey professionally, he continues to enjoy the game and values the camaraderie and competition it brings.
Ward exemplifies dedication and balance showcasing a commitment to both his athletic and academic pursuits.
